Evaluation:
The proposed evaluation scheme is:

  1. A term paper, EITHER explaining a fundamental concept in science, or dealing with a science topic that has significant theological implications, or giving a case study an event or events in the history of science that have been important in illuminating theological questions. (40% of grade)
  2. A short (four typed pages maximum) critical book review of one of the prescribed books for the course. (15% of grade)
  3. Participation and attendance. Given for either on-line involvement in the course, or suggesting significant journal articles, or news items on science or science and belief which help fulfil the course objectives. (5% of grade)
  4. An exam, given at the end of the course, on the material covered in the lectures. A guide to topics expected will be given. (40% of grade)
Text and readings: comprehensive written summaries of the lectures will be provided. Students will be encouraged to read two of the prescribed books, and explore relevent journals or the internet. An alternative title may however be substituted, if approved by the instructor.
